What you’ll make
Sew a soft, stuffed Christmas wreath for a door or indoor display. The design combines a fabric ring with fused lettering, snowflakes, trim and small padded ornaments suspended from cords.
The sample uses gray, white and red and says Merry Christmas, but the included alphabet lets you compose a different message. A cord at the top forms the hanging loop.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Reverse-trace appliqués onto permanent fusible web.
- Add pom-pom trim or another edging before assembly.
- Sew, clip and turn the inner curve of the wreath.
- Arrange and fuse the lettering and snowflakes.
- Make filled stars and hearts with inserted cords.
- Attach the ornaments and hanger at the outer edge.
- Stuff the wreath and add optional decorative stitching.
Fabric and materials
Use fabric for the wreath and ornaments, plus stuffing, cord and trim. Permanent double-sided fusible web attaches the lettering and snowflakes without stitching around their edges.
Permanent fabric glue is another supported option if it is allowed to dry. The sample adds an optional red wool embroidery stitch around the wreath’s sewn edge.
Make it your own
Choose your own message, colors and snowflake arrangement. The hanging stars and hearts are optional and can be staggered, aligned or replaced with other simple shapes.
