There’s less and less time left, so we’re carrying on with our brainstorm of ideas so that this Christmas, instead of buying decorations identical to everyone else’s, you can make them yourself and do them your way. Today we’re turning our attention to walls and doors with a few options for creating your own Christmas décor with wooden embroidery hoops.
Some projects involve a little sewing and others none at all, so they’re all easy and quick to make and won’t demand too much of your time. Even so, they’re all super pretty and cost very little. We found so many lovely things that we’re sure you’ll fall in love with at least one.

1. Lulu style.
This is our personal, very original, and fun proposal. As you can see, we covered the wood of the embroidery hoop in a very simple way, chose a beautiful fabric as the background, and used a little lace-style ribbon held in place by the hoop itself. A few buttons for decoration, some wooden clothespins, a letter template… And there you have it.
2. Chalkboard style.
Another one from us—nothing could be easier. It also works as decoration for any season, because you draw the decoration yourself. If you have little ones at home, they’ll surely volunteer to paint the Christmas décor on the chalkboard fabric. It can also be a wonderful gift for them.
3. Illustration style.
In this case, choose some beautiful fabrics, cut out Christmas shapes and motifs, and sew them onto another fabric in a more neutral color so they stand out. You can also use fabric glue. 4. Christmas bauble style.
The idea we saw at The Crafty Cupboard is practically the same as the previous one but much simpler. Instead of cutting out more complex shapes with details, use scraps of fabric you have at home in very simple shapes: strips, circles, a little rickrack or pom-pom trim… Anything will work, as long as the colors are harmonious.
5. Button style.
Another Christmas décor idea with embroidery hoops that’s super easy and suitable for every skill level. The idea couldn’t be simpler: draw the motif you want to reproduce on the fabric—burlap in this case—and sew buttons of different sizes over the drawing. You can arrange them in a scale-like pattern, as in the photograph, or simply place them next to one another.
6. Crochet style.
You don’t strictly have to use fabric for Christmas décor with embroidery hoops. You can also use some kind of crochet textile. It’s a good way to recycle an old sweater, although you can also make it yourself with our beautiful yarns. 7. Tree style.
It’s also a wonderful idea, if you’ve gotten into it, to prepare several embroidery hoops with Christmas motifs, phrases, and decorations and hang them to form a tree.
