New fabrics keep arriving at the shop, and there are so many beautiful things that it feels like we can never get enough. We always want more! If you know this feeling, then you’re a fabric addict just like us, and you’re going to love today’s post: we’re going to show you some of the summer 2016 trends for kids that we’ve spotted online. Sweet, colorful, fun, and utterly adorable—you’ll see.

The designs we’re showing you come from Milk + Bots’ Instagram account, an American children’s clothing boutique that makes truly beautiful things. For DIY lovers like you, it’s a wonderful source of inspiration. Let’s take a look!

Summer 2016 trends for kids

summer 2016 trends for kids foxes1. Foxes

Animal prints are in fashion, and that’s a fact, as we already mentioned when we told you about panda bears. But some clearly stand out as favorites this summer. The fox is one of them: reddish orange on white is becoming a trend, and seeing the result, we’re absolutely delighted that it is. Foxes also remind us a lot of El Principito and the beautiful story of friendship between a boy and a fox that we told you about in this other post.

If you like foxes, take a look at the new double gauze cotton muslin we have in the shop.

summer 2016 kids trends bunnies2. Bunnies

And we’re continuing with more adorable animals. Bunnies are also among our favorites. The designs you’ll find online range from the simplest, most schematic shapes to fun and colorful combinations in which the bunnies look bouncy and playful.

It’s also very fashionable to use only the outline of the drawing, as in the Milk + Bots design shown alongside these lines. You can use techniques such as stenciling to print them onto plain fabric. Very easy and, besides, a wonderful craft to do as a family.

If you’re more into herbivores, you might like our bunny muslin (a simple outline print) or the gorgeous, colorful Friends Flos Conejitos by Makeower (if you like this one, hurry because we only have four fat quarters left!).

summer 2016 trends for kids3. Crosses

But this small selection of summer 2016 trends for kids can’t be all about animals. Simple geometric shapes, black-on-white combinations, and that minimalist style in fabrics inspired by Swedish design remain one of the most requested trends. It’s a style that seems to have become timeless once again over the years and that looks good everywhere. Crosses, circles, triangles… there’s something about these fabrics that hypnotizes us and keeps us from looking away.

All these fabrics are perfect for making clothes for little ones, but also for decorating their room, making crib linens, pillows, dolls, and so on.

Search our shop for the new fabrics with crosses and geometric designs that we have in stock, and keep a close eye out because new additions will be arriving soon.

And keep a close eye on the blog too, because we’ll continue keeping you informed about all the trends, new arrivals, and cute things that we make or come across.

Have a fantastic and creative weekend!
