Yes, sometimes we’re short on time. But other times, we’re short on space! And the more members there are in a family, the harder it is to find somewhere to put everything. That’s why we’re always coming up with ideas to save space: whether at home, in your shop, in the car…
And if we can also take our space-saving contraptions from one place to another, even better! Today we’re revisiting three very useful ideas: use them as inspiration to create your own versions, or make them just like ours with the Lulu Ferris tutorials. Take note.

Our 3 ideas for saving space
1. Car or Wall Organizer
A perfect way to save space and make the most of what you have is to make use of vertical surfaces too. That way, a car seat or a bare wall can be the ideal place to hang a beautiful fabric organizer with pockets.
The wonderful thing about this organizer is that you can customize it 200%, depending on what you want to use it for. We designed the one you see in the photo to store the kids’ arsenal in the car: wipes, spare clothes, toys, tissues, a little bottle of water…

2. Cutting Mat + Ironing Board
What is your sewing corner like? Sometimes our students and readers tell us that they sew in very small spaces: at the kitchen table, in a little corner of the bedroom or living room… And the struggle for space becomes a daily battle.
Thinking about this problem, we came up with a way to solve two problems with one tutorial. Where do you put your cutting mat? And where do you put the ironing board when you need to prepare a hem or attach some interfacing?

3. Collapsible Basket with a Spring
The biggest problem with baskets, plastic boxes, wooden chests, and so on is that they’re very useful while they’re full, but when they’re empty or half full, they still take up the same amount of space. That’s why a collapsible box or folding basket seems perfect for adjusting the space to the needs of each moment.
This folding basket is also ideal for every space: a child’s bedroom, the trunk of the car, or a corner of your shop or business. When you no longer need it, you just have to fold it up and it will become completely flat, so you can store it without taking up hardly any space until you need it again.
