Today we want to talk about what you'll discover when you finally decide to buy knit fabric and put it under the machine to create something truly beautiful with it.

But what we want to do in this article is encourage you to take the leap by telling you about some of the best things about working with this material.
It's absolutely worth it!
1. It doesn't fray
This lets you work more calmly and create garments without finishing the hems or edges, if you want to give your creations a more relaxed, informal look. In other words, you can forget about hemming forever. Ideally, you should use the fabric's natural behavior to your advantage to create original and different finishes.
2. It's much more comfortable and soft
What makes knit fabric seem more difficult to work with is its stretch, although if you follow the advice we give in the post linked at the beginning, that doesn't have to cause you any trouble. In return, you'll get much more comfortable garments that adapt better to the body and its movements. It also has a softer, more pleasant feel: the kind of sensation that turns a garment into your favorite.
3. It's ideal for little ones
Precisely because of what we mentioned in point two: it's much kinder to your little ones' delicate skin, and they'll feel much more comfortable. We really like using it for rompers and baby rompers, because it prevents the garment from pulling, squeezing, or rubbing against them. If it's more comfortable for you (and surely you're no longer able to put your foot in your mouth), imagine how it feels for them, since they're like little contortionists. 4. It has the perfect drape
The weight and drape of knit fabric are another of its standout features. Working with that drape and taking advantage of it when designing and sewing our projects allows us to make all kinds of things we couldn't make with ordinary woven fabric. This is easier to see in specific garments, such as the batwing jacket or the drop-crotch rompers for children. And not only that: dresses, skirts, T-shirts…
5. Eco-friendly and made under fair working conditions
We usually work with organic cotton knit fabric, which is what we carry in the store.
