She simply wanted clothes for her little ones that she couldn’t find in any store, and one day she decided to make them herself. Just like that, without knowing anything about sewing or ever having been part of that world.

Here are five tips for beginners that will help you get started in the best possible way and take you as far as you want to go.
Five useful tips for learning to sew1. Buy a machine and put together a basic sewing kit
It seems very obvious, right? However, it’s the confirmation you need to know that your intention to learn to sew is serious. Until you have the machine at home, looking at you sweetly from the table, shiny and full of promise, you run the risk of getting stuck in the I’d like to. Stop watching other people do it and start doing it yourself. That’s the first step. 3. Look for sewing projects that motivate you
When it comes to learning to sew, at first you’ll have to limit yourself to “ruining” scraps of fabric just to practice your stitches. But it will be a great help to keep projects you like and that motivate you in mind, to be clear about what you want to be able to make and keep it firmly in sight. Motivation is a key factor in everything you do and undertake in life. But don’t worry, because with the enormous number of absolutely beautiful and original projects you can make with just a sewing machine, you’ll never run out of them.
4. Find a sewing buddy
It isn’t essential, but it will help a lot. Having someone at a similar level to yours, who starts with the same excitement and with whom you can discuss questions, problems, victories, and projects is very positive. If not, you always have the option of doing the same online, in forums or websites related to the subject. There’s always someone willing to help or share :)
