It’s no coincidence that we have a soft spot for baby sewing tutorials. This whole adventure began with Jan, the “biggest little one” in the Lulu Ferris family. After Jan came two more, Pol and Sam, and it was as if each one arrived carrying ideas and tutorials under their arm instead of a loaf of bread.
At Lulu Ferris, we have lots of tutorials for dressing them: rompers, dresses, skirts, bodysuits, hats, soft-soled shoes, and more. But along with clothes, little ones come with plenty of other needs (but moms and dads already know that). Strollers, cribs, changing pads, high chairs… The list is endless!
Today’s post is dedicated to those other baby sewing projects. Here are seven tutorials to help you customize all this “baby gear.”

Baby sewing tutorialsWe’ll start with the tutorials you can find at Lulu Ferris and finish with the ones on the YouTube channel. We’re including all the links so you don’t miss any of them.
Waterproof changing pad cover:
Using terry cloth, knit fabric, and sewing-safe plastic, you can make this beautiful changing pad cover. It’s so easy and so quick to make that you can sew several, so you’ll always have a spare. In the tutorial, Laura shows you how to calculate the measurements based on your own changing pad.
Padded stroller seat liner:
Another wonderfully easy tutorial with spectacular results. This stroller liner is ready for anything. It’s reversible and cushy, includes belt protectors, is made with durable canvas, and, as you can see, it’s absolutely beautiful.
BabyBjörn bouncer cover:
A special tutorial for this very popular type of bouncer: the BabyBjörn model. The cover is made with 100% knit fabric that’s soft and stretchy. If you have another similar bouncer model, you may be able to adapt the measurements. And while you’re at it, you can learn how to make buttonholes (if you haven’t mastered the technique yet).
Ikea high-chair cushion cover:
In this case, we based our project on the Ikea high-chair cushion, although the tutorial will also work if the one you have at home is similar. To protect it from the stains and accidents that tend to happen in the eating area (just like in the diaper-changing area), we used a waterproof fabric that can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
Travel changing mat:
A foldable changing mat lined with terry cloth that you can take anywhere. It’s incredibly easy to sew, wonderfully practical, and takes up very little space in your handbag or diaper bag.
Reversible crib sheet:
Would you like to make some really beautiful sheets with your favorite fabrics? This is another very simple tutorial that’s perfect if you’re just starting out, because there’s nothing complicated about it.
“Pee shields” to contain leaks during diaper changes
And finally, a little stroke of genius that will save you from unwanted “showers”. The perfect accessory for the waterproof changing pad cover or the travel changing mat. And you’ll have it finished in no time!
