It looks like the cold has officially arrived here. It has taken over all our streets and homes, and now we’re ready to light the fireplace, sit down to eat warm roasted chestnuts, put on a scarf, and try to keep our ears warm with a hat. A few weeks ago, we told you about 4 tutorials to keep your neck warm, and today we’re back with 4 great, quick tutorials so our ideas don’t freeze.
1. Slouchy hat and reversible neck warmer
We already mentioned this tutorial from Lulu Ferris last time, because it’s great to be able to wear a matching hat and neck warmer. It’s super easy to sew, and we made it for adults and children, so once you make one, you’ll want to make them for the whole family. You can make both sides from knit fabric, or combine the outer side with fleece, sherpa, or any other softer, warmer fabric.
2. YouTube hat
A basic, round little hat that you’ll make in 5 minutes! In the tutorial, we made it with world-map fabric and a sherpa lining, but we recommend using a slightly stretchy fabric for the outer side instead, since it will always be more comfortable and fit the shape of your head better.
3. YouTube turban hat
And speaking of 5-minute tutorials, this is another easy—very easy—one. These types of hats are very fashionable right now, so with a beautiful fabric and by following the step-by-step instructions, you’ll have it finished in no time. For the tutorial, we used a thick, tricot-style knit, but you can make it with stretchy knit fabric, rib knit, sweatshirt/fleece fabric, velvet… whatever you like best!
4. Baby hat with little ears
Of course, we haven’t forgotten about them. This tutorial from Lulu Ferris is designed for the littlest ones at home, but it’s so easy that you can also adjust the measurements and make an ear hat for yourselves.
