Zippered Glasses Case
In this sewing tutorial, you’ll make an easy zippered glasses case. Patterns in two sizes and appliqué designs are included!

What you’ll make
Sew a compact, padded case for sunglasses or reading glasses. A zipper follows the curved top edge, while a short tab with a swivel clasp lets you attach the case to a bag or backpack.
Decorate the exterior with a glasses appliqué from the included templates or leave it plain. Batting adds structure and cushioning, while the lining finishes the interior.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Apply and edge-stitch a fabric motif.
- Secure batting to the exterior fabric.
- Clip zipper tape to follow a curved edge.
- Layer and join the exterior, lining, and zipper.
- Add a fabric tab and swivel clasp.
- Shape the ends and bind the raw seam allowances.
Fabric and materials
The sample combines a canvas exterior, poplin lining, and batting. You will also need a zipper, binding strips, and a swivel clasp.
A stable exterior helps the case hold its shape, while the batting provides the padded layer shown in the lesson.
Make it your own
Choose from the supplied glasses appliqué designs or leave the front plain. Two appliqué sizes coordinate with the two case patterns.

Finished sizes
The large case measures approximately 16 cm wide × 9 cm high × 5 cm deep. The small case measures approximately 16 cm wide × 6 cm high × 5 cm deep.
The video class includes a downloadable A4 file with both case sizes and coordinating appliqué templates.
