What you’ll make

Sew a padded stroller footmuff with a quilted exterior, lining, and non-slip lower back. Two side zippers let you open either side or remove the front completely.

With the front removed, the back remains in the stroller as a liner. Harness openings allow the stroller straps to pass through it.

What you’ll learn in this class

Prepare quilted layers and stabilize batting.
Join the upper and non-slip back sections.
Position two long zippers accurately.
Sew zippers smoothly around curves.
Join, turn, and finish the layered pieces.
Plan harness openings for the intended stroller.

Fabric options

The samples use quilted fabric outside and non-slip fabric on the lower back. Poplin makes a lighter lining, while sherpa, fleece, minky, or coral fleece adds warmth.

Additional batting can be placed behind the lining when more insulation is wanted. The class demonstrates how to secure it before assembly.

Make it your own

Test the pattern on the intended stroller before choosing the harness openings. Optional ties can be enclosed in the seams wherever that stroller needs extra anchoring.

Optional snaps can help hold the folded front in place.

Finished measurements

The small footmuff measures 93 cm long by 41 cm wide. The large measures 118 cm long by 41 cm wide.
