What you’ll make
Sew a removable Maxi-Cosi cover with printed knit on the visible side and breathable 3D fabric against the seat. An elasticized edge holds the shaped cover around the carrier.
Open, flapped slots allow the harness straps to pass through and accommodate different strap arrangements and Maxi-Cosi models.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Layer knit and breathable 3D fabric without shifting.
- Mark the harness openings from the pattern.
- Reinforce the openings with a compact zigzag.
- Sew the shaped side pieces and darts.
- Join the outer section to the main cover.
- Distribute and stretch elastic evenly around the edge.
Fabric options
The demonstrated cover combines jersey with breathable 3D fabric. The original class notes also allow the cover to be made entirely from knit fabric.
A ballpoint or stretch needle and an even-feed foot help manage the layers. Finish seams with an overlock machine, zigzag, or an overlock-style stitch.
Make it your own
Choose a printed jersey for the visible surface. Test marking tools on scraps before drawing the harness openings, and adjust the elastic to suit its stretch.
