What you’ll make
Sew a cropped, fully lined vest with shaped princess seams, pointed front hems, and a button closure.
The Tarragona Vest includes an optional adjustable back strap for shaping the waist.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Stabilize curved and diagonal edges with fusible stay tape or staystitching.
- Ease and align opposing curves for the front princess seams.
- Join the outer vest and lining around the neckline, armholes, and hem.
- Clip curves and trim pointed corners for a crisp turned finish.
- Close the turning opening by hand or machine.
- Sew the back straps and add buttonholes and buttons.
Fabric choices
Choose a woven fabric to suit your preferred look. Canvas creates more structure, while denim gives the vest a casual character.
The samples pair canvas with a lightweight rayon-like lining and denim with poplin. Optional double topstitching can accent the seams on denim.
Make it your own
Choose the size and number of buttons, add or omit the adjustable back strap, and use optional topstitching to change the character of the vest.
