What you’ll make

Stella is a zip-front sweatshirt jacket with two side pockets, decorative back darts, a curved back hem, shaped sleeves, and distinctive cuffs with thumb openings.

An internal zipper guard shields the chin and keeps the zipper away from the body. The gently shaped back and practical details suit everyday wear, walks, workouts, or relaxing at home.

What you’ll learn in this class

Sew the sleeve darts and overlapping thumbhole cuffs.
Build the front panels and integrate the curved pocket bags.
Mark and sew the long decorative back darts accurately.
Match each shaped sleeve to the correct garment sections.
Stabilize a stretchy zipper edge and add the internal guard.
Finish the neckline facing, curved hem, and cuffs cleanly.

Fabric and sewing guidance

Choose a sweatshirt knit with some stretch. Lightweight stretch fleece also works, but avoid very bulky fleece because several layers meet around the facing and zipper.

Use a ballpoint, jersey, or stretch needle suited to your fabric. If the zipper edge stretches easily, the class shows how interfacing or stay tape can help stabilize it.

Make it your own

Fabric choice can shift Stella from a light athletic layer to a warmer casual jacket. The curved back, darts, pockets, and unusual cuffs remain its defining features.

For coordinating bottoms, make the jacket in the same fabric as the Aura Sweatpants.

Sizing and measurements

The pattern covers sizes 34/36 through 54/56. Its body chart spans bust 86–132 cm, waist 64–110 cm, and hip 90–136 cm.

The listed jacket length is 56 cm for sizes 34/36–42/44 and 61 cm for sizes 46/48–54/56.
