What you’ll make

The Nancy is a fully lined, open-front blazer with wide lapels, long two-piece sleeves, and a clean design without pockets or buttons.

Wear the sleeves long or turn them up to reveal the lining. The blazer can be styled casually or dressed up.

Pair it with the Millie Dress or the Sofia Dress.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Stabilize curves and apply lightweight interfacing.
  • Assemble the blazer body and two-piece sleeves.
  • Match notches and set each sleeve.
  • Construct the lining, back pleat, and facings.
  • Join the shell and lining at key seams and corners.
  • Add optional shoulder pads and finish the cuffs.
  • Clip curves, turn the blazer, and close the lining.

Fabric and materials

The samples use bi-stretch and gabardine-style fabrics. Fine-wale corduroy, twill, or tweed are also suggested, paired with a suitable lining such as viscose.

A little stretch adds freedom of movement. Firmer fabrics hold a pressed shape well, while springy bi-stretch may need edge topstitching to keep the lapels and edges in place.

Make it your own

Shoulder pads are optional. You can also decide whether to topstitch the outer edge after seeing how well your fabric holds its shape when pressed.

Pattern sizing

The pattern includes six grouped sizes from 34/36 through 54/56. The chart covers busts of 86–132 cm, waists of 64–110 cm, and hips of 90–136 cm.

Finished jacket length ranges from 59 cm in size 34/36 to 64 cm in size 54/56.

The video class includes A4 home-print and A0 copy-shop patterns and demonstrates the shell, lining, sleeves, lapels, cuffs, and optional shoulder pads.
