What you’ll make
The Millie is a fitted skater dress with shaped front and back panels, a gently flared skirt, and a wide round neckline that dips lower at the back.
The pattern includes short and long sleeves, allowing the same silhouette to work across seasons.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Cut mirrored and on-the-fold pieces accurately.
- Match notches along the curved panel seams.
- Choose needles and stitches for stretch fabric.
- Set sleeves using the front, back, and shoulder marks.
- Sew continuous sleeve and side seams.
- Distribute a knit neckband evenly around the neckline.
- Finish stretch hems with an elastic stitch.
Fabric and materials
Choose a stretch knit with fluid drape and movement. The sample uses a lightweight knit; viscose jersey and modal are also recommended.
A firmer knit will give the skirt less movement. Use a ballpoint, jersey, or stretch needle with an overlocker or a stretch-capable stitch on a regular sewing machine.
Make it your own
Choose short or long sleeves and adjust the skirt length during fitting. Hem options include twin-needle stitching, zigzag, or another elastic stitch.
Pattern sizing
The pattern includes six grouped sizes from 34/36 through 54/56. The chart covers busts of 86–132 cm, waists of 64–110 cm, and hips of 90–136 cm.
Finished dress length ranges from 89 cm in size 34/36 to 94 cm in size 54/56.
The video class includes A4 home-print and A0 copy-shop patterns, with short and long sleeves and shaped panels for the fitted bodice and flared skirt.
