What you’ll make

Create a soft Mickey Mouse plush with stuffed arms and legs, appliquéd facial features and textile-marker details. Removable Velcro-backed buttons and a bow tie add a hands-on play element.

Shaped hands, shoes, ears and contrasting body sections create the character. Choose how firmly to stuff the toy for a softer or fuller result.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Cut paired and mirrored pattern pieces correctly.
  • Build the face with fusible-web appliqué and zigzag stitching.
  • Join contrasting sections while keeping paired limbs symmetrical.
  • Sew and reinforce stuffed limbs with a triple straight stitch.
  • Clip curved seam allowances for smoother turned shapes.
  • Secure the filled arms and legs inside the body seam.
  • Close the turning opening by hand or machine.

Fabric and materials

Use contrasting fabrics for the body, face, gloves, shorts and shoes, plus fusible web for the appliqués. Stuffing shapes the body and limbs, while batting adds body to the removable pieces.

The class also uses textile marker and Velcro for the bow tie and buttons. Raw edges on fraying fabrics can be finished with a zigzag stitch.

Make it your own

Make a Minnie version by changing the colors and moving the bow to the head. You can redraw the eyes, omit the removable pieces or add Velcro to the hands so they fasten together.
