What you’ll make

The Mia is a relaxed batwing T-shirt with dropped sleeves and an easy shape that works across seasons.

Its simple silhouette makes it quick to sew, while the neckline, hems and optional center-back detail give you room to practice polished garment finishes.

Make it in knit for a soft, comfortable fit or choose a woven fabric for a lighter, more structured version.

Pair it with the Vera trousers, choosing the long or short version to suit the season.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Assemble the optional center-back seam and choose a neat seam finish.
  • Join the shoulders and sides in knit or woven fabric.
  • Prevent stretchy fabric from rippling as you sew and topstitch.
  • Finish the sleeves and hem with a twin needle or another suitable stitch.
  • Prepare, position and adjust a rib-knit or self-fabric neckband.
  • Adapt the neckline and understand what to change before lengthening the pattern.

Choose knit or woven fabric

Jersey or another knit creates the softest, most flexible Mia. A walking foot can help feed the layers evenly and keep the hems from waving.

Viscose, poplin or another light woven fabric gives the same shape a different drape. Because woven fabric does not stretch, check that the neckline passes comfortably over your head.

Use rib knit or matching stretch fabric for the neckband. On a woven version, you can open the neckline and finish it with a narrow hem instead.

Make it your own

Keep the decorative center-back seam, emphasize it with contrast topstitching, or cut the back on the fold for an uninterrupted finish.

Choose a neckband, a simple turned edge, twin-needle stitching, zigzag or a decorative stitch according to your fabric and the look you want.

If you want a longer top or dress version, add room through the hips as well as length. The class explains why extending the hem alone may restrict the fit.

Sizes and fit

The pattern includes six grouped sizes from 34/36 to 54/56. Its body-measurement chart spans busts from 86 to 132 cm, waists from 64 to 110 cm and hips from 90 to 136 cm.

Finished length ranges from approximately 50 to 55 cm depending on size. The PDF also provides fabric consumption for each size group.

The downloadable pattern is supplied in A4 for home printing and A0 for copy-shop printing, with sizing, fabric requirements and a cutting layout.

In the complete class, Lulu shows how each fabric behaves and guides you through the seams, hems and neckline so you can choose the finish that suits your Mia.
