What you’ll make
Sew the Creta, a children’s woven blouse with optional front ruffles, long sleeves, and a keyhole opening at the back.
The neckline is finished with binding, while the back can close with a small hook, snap, or button-and-loop closure.
Make it as a blouse or add a gathered skirt for a twirly dress. Either version pairs well with the leggings tutorial.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Stabilize curved and bias-cut edges.
- Hem, gather, and attach the optional front ruffles.
- Finish the back keyhole and bind the neckline.
- Ease and insert the sleeves using pattern notches.
- Sew plain or elasticized cuffs and hems.
- Add a gathered skirt for the dress version.
Fabric and materials
Choose a non-stretch woven fabric. The samples use double gauze, while viscose, twill, and lightweight flannel are also supported options.
Double gauze creates a soft result, while a more fluid woven changes the drape.
Make it your own
- Add both ruffles or omit them for a cleaner front.
- Use elastic at the cuffs, lower hem, both, or neither.
- Lengthen the blouse pieces for more coverage.
- Add a gathered skirt to create a dress.
- Choose the back closure that suits your fabric.
Sizing
The pattern includes 18/24 months, 2/3, 4/5, 6/7, 8/9, 10/11, and 12/13 years. The corresponding height chart runs from 86 to 152 cm.
The class includes the Creta pattern in A4 home-print and A0 copy-shop formats, plus an information sheet with the size chart.
