Basic Unisex Burgos Pants

What you’ll make
Sew full-length unisex pants with straight legs, roomy side pockets, optional back patch pockets, and a comfortable elastic waistband.
Fabric choice can turn the same simple silhouette into practical workwear, pajama pants, or a more polished everyday pair.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Stabilize the waistband, crotch, and curved or diagonal edges.
- Prepare and topstitch optional back patch pockets.
- Construct neat, aligned side pockets.
- Assemble the legs and finish the raw seam allowances.
- Make the waistband casing and insert elastic without twisting it.
- Check the length on the wearer and sew the hems.
Fabric choices
The pattern works with woven or knit fabric. Poplin makes a practical pair, while viscose adds drape and movement.
The class also discusses jersey for pajama pants and satin for a dressier result, showing how fabric changes the character of the silhouette.
Make it your own
Keep both back pockets, reposition them, or leave them off. You can also omit all the pockets for a simpler pair.
Adjust the elastic width, topstitch a wider waistband, choose your preferred leg length, or add ankle elastic for a gathered finish.

Sizing and measurements
The pattern includes grouped sizes 34/36 through 54/56, covering waists of 64–110 cm and hips of 90–136 cm.
Finished pants lengths range from 96–101 cm by size. A4 home-print and A0 copy-shop pattern files are provided.
