For the past few weeks, you’ve been hearing me talk about crowdfunding because we want to create the Sewing Notebook 2.0 using this system, and maybe you’re not sure what I’m talking about. So I’m going to explain how it works.

First, let’s start with the definition:

Crowdfunding: Collective financing of projects through the internet.

And since a picture is sometimes worth a thousand words:

How does it work?

You set a funding goal (what you need to create your project). Depending on the project, the costs will be different. In our case, creating the notebook will mainly involve design and production costs.

Once you have your goal, you create the rewards. What are they? They’re what you’ll give in exchange to the people who contribute money (backers). Normally, they’ll be what we’re looking to fund through the crowdfunding campaign.

Attention: this is the first edition; the second will have a different design.

In our case, it will be the sewing notebook, with the option of a ring binder and maybe something else :)

What does that mean? If I reach the funding goal (there are 40 days to do it), I’ll be able to fund the project, and each backer will receive their reward: the notebook, the notebook plus ring binder… and so on.

What happens if the goal isn’t reached? Nothing happens. The people who wanted to contribute (the backers) aren’t charged anything.

All of this is done through websites specializing in crowdfunding. There are many platforms of this kind, and they fund a thousand and one projects. For the notebook, we chose Verkami. They’re also from Mataró, which is a major point in their favor :)

Go take a look at all the projects they currently have active. I’m sure you’ll like at least one of them; it’s amazing. There are projects of every kind, from creative and charitable projects to fashion, food, restaurants, websites…

Are you wondering where our campaign is?

buy sewing notebook

Don’t worry, it isn’t there yet. We’re in the pre-campaign phase, which means that we’re looking for people who are interested in becoming backers of our Sewing Notebook.

To do that, they need to sign up for our special newsletter, where we’ll keep them informed about all the latest news, especially when we launch the campaign. That way, they’ll be among the first to find out, buy them at a better price, and access unique rewards.

You can watch our video and sign up for the newsletter here.

If you’d like to know more, here’s the website of my crowdfunding consultant, Valentí, who’s a total pro and explains it much better than I do :)
