This week on YouTube, we’re bringing you a new sewing tutorial for making thermal rice bags. The fabrics we used and the seeds we filled them with are from Titi saquitos—visit their website to see everything they have.
Thermal rice bags can be used both hot and cold, and each option has its benefits. It’s recommended to have 2, so you can use one in one mode and the other in the other mode.

If you want them hot, you’ll just need to put them in the microwave for a couple of minutes until they reach the temperature you want, or you can also heat them in the oven wrapped in aluminum foil and then apply them to the area you need. Remember to put a glass of water in the microwave as well to prevent the fabric from drying out.
When hot, they’re great for:
- Neck, lower back, and upper-back pain.
- Menstrual pain.
- Muscle contractures.
- Arthritis and osteoarthritis.
- Warming a bed or crib.
- Tendinitis.
- Torticollis.
- Sciatica
- Otitis.
If you want them cold , it’s as simple as putting them inside an airtight bag and leaving them in the refrigerator or freezer , and once they reach the temperature you want, they’ll be ready to apply to the area you need.
And when cold, they’re especially great for:
- Stress and the effects of staying up late.
- Headaches and migraines.
- Contusions and blows.
- Insect bites.
- Eye relaxation – puffy eyes.
- Bruises.
- Toothache.
- Burns
- Varicose veins.
Here’s the tutorial for making them— you’ll see how easy it is!
Happy sewing!
