Summer DIY: our storefront last year

The heat is starting to set in, and once again our heads are filling with summer DIYs: colorful, refreshing, fun, and daring. We’re thrilled to announce that this year, once again… pineapples are on trend! And we’re not talking about eating them for dessert, even though they’re so delicious and healthy. We mean that they’re about to take over blogs, stores, crafts, interiors, accessories, and even clothing. We’ve fallen madly in love with them all over again. Stay very tuned to the Lulu Ferris because very soon we’ll post a new tutorial inspired by our summer pineapples that’s sure to give you a million ideas.

In fact, pineapples first appeared on the scene a couple of summers ago and won us over with their carefree, fun touch that suits us so well. Last year, among other things, we found some beautiful pineapple vinyl decals to decorate the store’s storefront, along with some adorable flamingo ones, which, by the way, are still fashionable too. They really do look good everywhere.

And they’re not only great for outdoor spaces, as we showed with the storefront, but they look fantastic as interior decoration too. We’ve seen all kinds of ideas and applications: from wall decals, garlands, pillows, and prints to lamps and planters… They’re perfect for adding a vibrant splash of color wherever you put them. Of everything we’ve seen, we thought this idea from A Beautiful Mess for making a little pineapple lamp was especially simple and original. Although the blog is in English, you’ll find a great two-minute video where you can see the whole process.

And because you’re a reader and follower of the blog, we’re giving you an exclusive preview of what that pineapple-inspired tutorial we already have prepared to publish very soon will be. Pineapples are perfect for accessories, and if you’re not convinced, just look at how beautiful our summer bag turned out. We printed the pineapple with freezer paper, but you’ll see that step by step in the tutorial. Don’t stop at bags, either: we’ve also gone crazy for these hand-painted sneakers from I Spy Diy. Super-original and so easy that you don’t even need to know how to draw well.

But besides looking great on all kinds of accessories, you can take it a step further and add pineapple prints to your summer wardrobe. Look at these cute pineapple Coachella shorts we found while browsing Pinterest. Remember that you have the Coachella shorts tutorial in Lulu Ferris, and we hope to have some pineapple-print fabric in the store soon so you can make your summer DIYs. While we look for one that’s really pretty, you can also add pineapples as appliqués or paint them with fabric paint or fabric markers.
