The word scrap literally means “cutout” and refers to the main raw material used to create these fun projects. In addition to paper cutouts, the other star element in scrapbooking is photography, so with cutouts and a wide variety of materials such as cardstock, fabric, buttons, thread, dried flowers, stamps, stickers… you can create all kinds of original displays for your photos.
Although you don’t necessarily have to work with photographs, you can also use scrapbooking to make planners, notebooks, tags, business cards… You can add a personal touch to all your stationery and create very special gifts for the people you care about.
In today’s post, we want to show you some of the things you can make using scrapbooking—a little burst of inspiration to help you start experimenting with your own creations. Here we go:
1. Boxes.
Decorate cardboard or wooden boxes with scrapbooking and other techniques, and use them to store travel memories, photographs, objects you’re especially fond of… You can achieve results as beautiful as the one in the photograph.
2. Exploding boxes.
Don’t worry, we’re not going to teach you how to make bomb boxes. Exploding boxes are the perfect gift: when you remove the lid, the box “explodes,” opening like a flower to reveal its contents—the gift. Decorate the inside with keepsake photographs for the person receiving it and with their favorite colors.
3. Photo albums.
With scrapbooking, you can also create very special photo albums for your best memories. This way, you can make the decoration on the outside of the album match its contents.
4. Personalized letters.
You know that a very popular interior-design trend, and one often used at events such as weddings, birthdays, etc., is to use large decorated letters placed on a shelf, on guests’ tables, or wherever you like. With scrapbooking, you’ll create truly special and very, very beautiful letters like the ones in the photograph.
5. Frames.
Scrapbooking also lets you make beautiful frames for your photographs. It’s also an excellent idea if you want to give someone else a special photo as a gift. The best part is that you can make it completely to your taste and give that special photo even more meaning.
6. Folders.
Folders are easy to make, and you can achieve very beautiful results with little experience. You can make them using only papers in different colors, use pieces of fabric, add bows or cords as closures…
These six ideas we’ve chosen are only meant to show you a small part of what you can do with scrapbooking, which, as you can see, is very versatile and lets you personalize a wide variety of objects. It’s an easy, creative, and fun activity that you can also do as a family, because it’s a little like the crafts we used to make at school.
