Creative Sewing for Kids in Mataró

When you think about activities you can sign your kids up for—activities that can support their development, entertain them, and give them a new skill—you may never have considered creative sewing for boys and girls. And that’s because sewing has a somewhat distorted image: it seems old-fashioned, more suited to grandmothers than to new generations. So it’s hard for us to imagine kids sitting at a sewing machine, enjoying themselves and letting their creativity run free. […]

creative sewing for kidsWhen you think about activities you can sign your kids up for—activities that can support their development, entertain them, and give them a new skill—you may never have considered creative sewing for boys and girls. And that’s because sewing has a somewhat distorted image: it seems old-fashioned, more suited to grandmothers than to new generations. So it’s hard for us to imagine boys and girls sitting at a sewing machine, enjoying themselves and letting their creativity run free.

But you know what? We don’t need to imagine it, because we’ve seen it with our own eyes. That’s why this Easter break we’re once again organizing a mini sewing camp for kids ages seven and up at our Mataró store.

Creative Sewing for Kids in Mataró

creative sewing for kids Lulu FerrisAnother distorted idea we apply to creative sewing is that it’s something exclusively for women. Yet it seems perfectly natural to us that the great designers and most acclaimed names in the fashion world are men. So what’s with that contradiction? What is it based on? It’s the same thing that leads many people to see cooking at home as women’s work, while when it comes to prestigious restaurants and great chefs, men’s names also receive more attention.

But setting that topic aside—we could talk about it for a long time—let’s focus on the fact that sewing should be seen and introduced naturally as an activity without gender roles: creative sewing for boys and girls, without discrimination.

Classes Adapted to All Skill Levels

creative sewing for boys and girlsAs with all the activities we organize, spaces are limited so we can give each child all the attention they need. For this camp, we accept a maximum of six children, who will have two instructors at their disposal. So whether they’re starting from scratch or already have plenty of experience with sewing machines, we have lots of projects to offer them. And they’ll be the ones to decide what they feel like doing most—something we consider very important so they have a great time and feel very happy with what they’ve created.

Four Days of Learning and Creativity

creative sewing for kids MataróTo get spring off to a great start, this particular camp will take place over four days: from March 21 to 24, from 10:00 to 13:00. Twelve hours to imagine, have fun, connect with others, and learn. We’ll also provide the materials they need based on the project they choose, along with a pleasant, safe environment for learning, surrounded by ideas and beautiful things. And remember that if you’re a member of Lulu Ferris, you also get a discount on the price, just as you do on the rest of the products in the store.
