Let’s make this practical and fun avocado-shaped wrist pin cushion.
We urgently needed a wrist pin cushion, and when we started designing one, we thought of several little animals, but sticking pins into them didn’t feel right.
Yes, I know, in Lulu Ferris we have the tutorial for the hedgehog magnetic pin cushion, buuuut the pins represent the spines ;)
Anyway, while I was making breakfast, I saw it in my hands: an avocado!
So here we bring you a practical avocado wrist pin cushion.
Watch out, for this tutorial it’s very important to have a water-bottle cap to recycle; otherwise, you might accidentally stick the pins into your wrist. We show you how in the video.
You have two options for the wrist closure: one with a strap that closes and adjusts around the wrist with Velcro, and the other with elastic.
In the pattern, besides the materials and the pattern for the avocado and its pit, you’ll also find a horn, in case you prefer to make an avocado unicorn. The double-sided fusible interfacing for the appliqués is important.
Print at 100% scale, DO NOT fit to page, and check the test square. 1 cm seam allowance included.

For this tutorial, we used the beautiful, wonderful Style30 machine from Alfa Hogar which had just arrived the other day, and we were really looking forward to trying it out.
