What you’ll make

Sew the Tramuntana wrap pants, a fluid design with the movement of a wrap skirt and the comfort and coverage of pants.

One tie fastens at the back and another at the front, while the overlapping panels create airy side openings. Reverse the tying order to shift the crossover for a different look.

Pair them with the Cloe Top for a coordinated set, or style them with the Palma shirt.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Prepare the front and back panels and tie strips.
  • Stabilize curved areas with fusible stay tape.
  • Sew neat double-fold hems in lightweight fabric.
  • Join and finish the crotch seams and inseams.
  • Apply the ties with an enclosed, binding-style finish.
  • Start seams cleanly on very fine, fluid fabric.
  • Check the length before sewing the final hems.

Fabric ideas

Choose a lightweight fabric with fluid movement. The sample is viscose; linen, linen-viscose, and crepe also work well. Satin gives the pants a dressier look.

Openwork fabric can create a beach or evening version. Wear close-fitting shorts underneath if you prefer more coverage.

Make it your own

Adjust the pattern for full-length, cropped, or shorter pants. Compare it with your body and preferred footwear before cutting the fabric.

Shorten or lengthen the ties, add beads to the ends, or cut each tie in one continuous piece when the fabric layout allows. The ties can also be assembled from joined sections.

Pattern and sizing

The included pattern covers sizes 34/36 through 54/56, with charted waist measurements of 64–110 cm and hip measurements of 90–136 cm.

The charted total pants length runs from 101 cm to 106 cm across the size range. Use it as a starting point and adjust the length to suit you.

The pattern is included in A4 and A0 formats.

The video class shows how to handle fluid viscose, stabilize areas prone to stretching, and create clean finishes on the exposed edges and ties.
