What you’ll make
Sew warm, crossed-front house slippers for children and adults, with a soft lining, separate outer layer, and non-slip sole.
The overlapping sides cross in opposite directions on the left and right feet. An optional button or snap can secure the overlap after you test the fit.
For the smallest feet, see the Cozy Reversible Baby Booties.

What you’ll learn in this class
- Pair mirrored outer and lining pieces.
- Handle bulky or fluffy fabrics while sewing.
- Form the crossed uppers for the left and right feet.
- Align and attach the curved soles using pattern notches.
- Construct the lining with an opening for turning.
- Clip the curves, turn the slippers, and close the lining.
- Position an optional closure after checking the fit.
Fabric and notions
The samples use corduroy outside, sherpa fleece inside, and non-slip fabric for the sole. The class also discusses other outer fabrics and warm linings, including fleece and coral fleece.
Optional stabilizer or padding can cushion the sole. For bulky fabrics, the class explores longer stitches and presser-foot options to help the layers feed smoothly.
Make it your own
- Leave the crossed upper open or secure it with a button.
- Use a snap as an alternative closure.
- Add a decorative button or ribbon detail.
- Add or omit cushioning in the sole.
- Adjust the overlap after trying on the slipper.
Sizes and fit
The printable pattern includes sizes 23–44. The slippers are designed for a roomy rather than close fit.
Before cutting, compare the wearer’s foot with the sole pattern to confirm there is enough room for the seams and a comfortable fit.
The class includes the slipper pattern and demonstrates the lined construction, optional cushioned sole, fit check, and alternative closures.
