What you’ll make

The Teo is a roomy organizer with three separate, fully lined zipper compartments. It keeps pencils, cosmetics, sewing tools or other small supplies divided and easy to reach.

An additional zippered flap provides another storage area. A hook-and-loop tab closes the organizer, while optional side handles make it easier to hold as you open the zippers.

This longer, more involved project combines several zippers and layered seams in a compact space. It is best suited to sewists with previous zipper experience.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Construct a zippered flap and add its closure.
  • Align three continuous zippers with the outer panels.
  • Build a separate lined compartment for each zipper.
  • Topstitch the zipper edges to keep the lining clear.
  • Shape the curved ends while managing bulky layers.
  • Turn the organizer and finish the lining opening.

Fabric and structure

Use canvas or a structured water-resistant fabric for the exterior. Poplin or another lightweight woven fabric helps reduce bulk inside the three lined compartments.

Interfacing or batting can add body when needed. The pattern includes a smaller cutting line for thicker support layers, and the class discusses quilting batting to help keep it secure.

Make it your own

  • Add a handle at one end, both ends or neither end.
  • Choose the direction of each zipper pull.
  • Reverse the flap panels to suit a directional print.
  • Omit the flap zipper if the extra pocket is not needed.
  • Replace the hook-and-loop closure with a magnetic snap.

Finished size

The finished organizer measures approximately 20 cm wide × 8 cm high × 8 cm deep.

The video class includes a printable A4 pattern and a material list covering the fabrics, support layer, zippers and closure used for the project.
