What you’ll make
Sew the Rosa, a paneled blouse with softly gathered sections and three main versions in one pattern.
Choose a three-quarter balloon sleeve with an elasticated hem, a sleeveless finish or a short sleeve completed with a shaped band.
The curved panels give the blouse its distinctive shape and offer natural places to combine fabrics or colors.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Stabilize curved and bias edges in woven fabric.
- Gather the body sections to fit the shaped panels.
- Match the panel seams accurately.
- Apply and turn the neckline band.
- Finish the sleeveless armholes.
- Construct and attach the shaped short-sleeve band.
- Sew the three-quarter sleeve, make its casing and insert elastic.
Choosing your fabric
The class supports woven and knit fabrics. The demonstrated versions use muslin and chambray, while viscose is suggested for a softer, more fluid silhouette.
A crisper fabric gives the gathers and balloon sleeve more volume; a drapier fabric creates a softer shape. Woven versions need suitable edge finishing and stabilization around vulnerable curves.
Make it your own
- Choose the sleeveless, short-sleeve or three-quarter balloon-sleeve version.
- Use contrast fabric on the shaped panels or sleeve bands.
- Combine the shaped band with the longer sleeve.
- Omit the elastic for a straighter, looser sleeve.
- Narrow the balloon sleeve for less fullness.
- Extend the body to make a dress.
Sizing and pattern details
The pattern covers sizes 34/36 through 54/56. Its chart spans a bust circumference of 86–132 cm, waist of 64–110 cm and hip circumference of 90–136 cm.
Finished blouse length ranges from 61 to 66 cm by size. Consult the body measurement chart before cutting or extending the blouse into a dress.
The video demonstrates the blouse and its arm and sleeve variations. Printable A4 and copy-shop A0 pattern files come with a pattern information sheet.
