What you’ll make
Sew a soft Ratoncito Pérez mouse pillow with ears, a felt face, whiskers, and a tail.
A tooth-shaped pocket on the back holds a child’s lost tooth and leaves room for the small surprise that replaces it.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Sew layered felt ears and add their inner details.
- Position small felt appliqués with adhesive or pins.
- Stitch the face, teeth, and whiskers securely.
- Sew the tooth pocket while leaving its top open.
- Enclose the ears and tail between the pillow panels.
- Turn, fill, and close the pillow neatly.
Materials
The sample uses very soft plush fabric for the pillow body and felt scraps for the ears, facial features, whiskers, tail, and tooth pocket.
You will also need cushion filling. Water-soluble glue helps control the small appliqué pieces, though pins or repositionable spray adhesive can also be used.
Make it your own
Add a child’s name to the tooth pocket using the alphabet templates in the PDF. Two typefaces are provided.
You can add a small bow to the tail, choose straight or zigzag appliqué stitching, and vary the amount of filling to achieve the softness you prefer.
