What you’ll make

Sew a classic trucker jacket with a regular silhouette that is neither fitted nor oversized. It has front and back yokes, shaped panel seams, and a waistband.

Details include side welt pockets, faux chest flaps, three-piece sleeves, buttoned cuffs, back tabs, a collar and stand, and parallel topstitching.

What you’ll learn in this class

Stabilize curved and bias-cut pieces.
Build the paneled fronts, back, and sleeves.
Sew and reinforce welt pockets with pocket bags.
Apply double-needle topstitching.
Set sleeves and attach cuffs and the waistband.
Construct a collar with a separate stand.
Add buttonholes and jeans buttons or metal snaps.

Fabric options

The samples use canvas. Denim and fine-wale corduroy are also suggested for the structured trucker shape.

Select a jeans, Microtex, or size 90 needle as appropriate. A walking foot can help feed thick layers, while a double needle creates the parallel topstitching.

Make it your own

Choose traditional jeans buttons with buttonholes or use heavy-duty metal snaps. The faux chest flaps can be fixed closed or worked with buttonholes so they lift.

For a roomier silhouette, the original guidance suggests choosing one or two sizes above your measured size.

Pattern sizing

The pattern runs from 34/36 through 54/56. Its chart covers busts of 86–132 cm, waists of 64–110 cm, and hips of 90–136 cm.

Finished jacket length ranges from 53 to 58 cm by size. Home-print A4 and copy-shop A0 files are included.
