What you’ll make

Sew soft knit pants with enclosed feet for a baby, keeping little feet covered without separate socks.

The pants finish with a wide, elastic-free knit waistband. It stretches for dressing, sits comfortably around the middle, and provides generous lower-back coverage.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Cut mirrored leg, upper-foot, and sole pieces.
  • Match curved knit pieces without distorting them.
  • Attach each upper foot and sew around the sole.
  • Join the legs through the curved center seam.
  • Finish stretch seams with zigzag or overlock stitching.
  • Quarter and attach the folded waistband evenly.

Fabric choice

This project is designed for knit fabric. Use a ballpoint or stretch needle; an even-feed foot can help keep the small layers aligned.

Pay attention to print direction when cutting the mirrored legs and foot pieces.

Make it your own

Choose a lightweight or warmer knit according to the season.

Coordinate the pants with the knotted baby hat for a matching newborn set.

Pattern sizing

The pattern includes preemie, newborn, 0–1 month, 1–3 months, 3–6 months, and 6–9 months sizes.

The complete video class includes a downloadable A4 pattern for the pants, folded waistband, upper-foot pieces, and soles.
