What you’ll make
Sew a structured carryall with two exterior side pockets and multiple interior compartments. Long handles, a reinforced base, and optional side snaps let you carry the bag open or pull its sides into a narrower shape.
Inside, one large pocket can be divided to organize a phone, planner, or pens. A second envelope-style pocket provides another storage area.
What you’ll learn in this class

- Attach exterior side pockets and assemble the bag body.
- Make handles from faux leather or fabric.
- Join the lining and exterior with a clean turned finish.

Fabric and supplies
The samples combine coating or flannel with faux leather and a woven lining. Canvas and poplin offer a lighter alternative when thick layers are difficult for your machine to feed.
Add medium- or lightweight interfacing where extra body is needed. Test bulky fabric and faux-leather layers first; a walking foot or Teflon foot can help them feed under the presser foot.
Make it your own
Leave off the side snaps for a more open silhouette, or fasten them to pull in the sides. Close the front with the demonstrated button and loop or an alternative buckle-style closure.
Divide the long interior pocket to suit the items you carry. You can also add bag feet above the concealed rigid base insert.
Finished size
The finished Moscow Bag measures approximately 28 cm high × 33 cm wide.
The class includes a home-printable pattern and a separate measurement guide for makers who prefer to mark the rectangular pieces directly on fabric.
