What you’ll make
Sew high-rise mom jeans with a relaxed fit through the upper leg and a slightly narrower shape below the knee.
The design includes front pockets, back patch pockets, a coin pocket, a zip fly, back yokes, a waistband and optional belt loops.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Stabilize curved and bias-cut edges before assembly.
- Sew patch, coin and lined front pockets.
- Construct a zip fly with a fly shield.
- Join the back yokes and main trouser seams.
- Attach and topstitch the waistband and belt loops.
- Add jeans-style topstitching and reinforcement stitches.
- Finish the hems, buttonhole and jeans button.
Fabric and supplies
Choose denim or another structured woven fabric, such as fine-wale corduroy or coating fabric. The class sample is made in denim.
For denim, the instructor recommends a size 100 jeans needle. Use jeans thread or polyester thread; a twin needle can create parallel rows of topstitching.
Make it your own
Shorten the full-length pattern, straighten the legs or make them slightly slimmer. You can also omit the belt loops or use rivets at selected reinforcement points.
Style the jeans with the Cannes Dress top, Córdoba Blouse, Madrid T-shirt or Adele Shirt.
Pattern sizing
The pattern covers sizes 34–56. Its body chart spans a 64–112 cm waist and 90–138 cm hips.
The listed trouser length ranges from 99 cm in size 34 to 104.5 cm in size 56.
This intermediate class guides you through the jeans-specific details and includes printable A4 and copy-shop A0 pattern files.
