Comfortable pants with a polished look
The Luxor Pants are women’s pants designed to look polished without giving up comfort. They have back darts, front pleats, diagonal side pockets, a zip fly, a button closure, and a waistband with an inner facing.
At the back, they include decorative faux pockets, perfect for achieving a more tailored finish without adding bulk. You can wear them long for a more classic look or adapt them to a more summery length.
What you’ll learn
- Shape the pants with back darts and front pleats, using the pattern notches and markings so everything lines up.
- Sew diagonal front pockets and set them so they look clean and stable.
- Create faux back pockets, a decorative detail that elevates the garment’s finish.
- Sew a zip fly.
- Work a waistband with facing.
- Complete the garment with belt loops and reinforcements in high-wear areas.
Recommended fabrics and supplies
Luxor is designed for woven fabrics. The class shows how the character of the pants changes with each choice: linen-viscose for a fresh result with drape, lightweight canvas for a version with more body, lightweight denim, seasonal denim, or twill and tweed for a more structured finish.
It also works with fabrics with personality, such as seersucker, gingham, stripes, or prints. To help key areas keep their shape, stability techniques are used, such as lightweight interfacing or stay tape, along with the zipper, button, and the elements that make up a well-finished waistband.
Ways to make them your own
The Luxor Pants offer several options to adapt them to your style. You can make them full-length or in a shorter version, depending on the time of year or the result you’re looking for.
The back pockets are optional. In the tutorial, we made them faux, simply as a decorative detail, but if you prefer them to be functional, you can make real ones following the technique we explain in the Cairo Pants tutorial.
For the waistband closure, you can also choose between adding a traditional button or using a pants hook and bar, which stays hidden once closed, as we did in the short striped version.
And if you want to create a complete outfit, you can combine Luxor with other Club projects, such as the Tanit shirt, the Lara shirt, for more formal looks, or the Palmira top or Luna for more summery ones.
And for cooler days, pair them with the Dakota jacket, the Camélia, or the elegant Dublin coat.
In the photos, they are styled with the short version of the Palma shirtdress and the open-back swimsuit.
