What you’ll make

Sew the Lara Blouse, an easy-to-wear top with a softly structured funnel neckline and shaped front opening. Long sleeves end in gathered cuffs with keyhole openings and small buttons.

The blouse can feel crisp, fluid or lightly sheer depending on the fabric. Its distinctive neckline remains the focus, while the cuffed sleeves add a polished finish for casual or tailored outfits.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Stabilize curved and bias areas so they retain their shape.
  • Join the two-piece back and finish the shaped neckline with facings.
  • Bind the sleeve keyhole openings with narrow fabric strips.
  • Gather the sleeves evenly and attach the cuffs.
  • Set the sleeves by matching the pattern notches.
  • Secure the facings, hem the blouse and finish the cuffs.

Fabric guidance

The class sample uses broderie anglaise cotton. Poplin creates a crisp alternative, while viscose gives a softer result. Chiffon can be used for light, semi-sheer sleeves.

Fabric with some body helps the funnel neckline stand neatly. With viscose or another soft fabric, apply fusible interfacing to the facings. The cuffs can also be interfaced when a fine fabric needs support.

Make it your own

For a sleeveless summer version, omit the sleeves and cleanly finish the armholes. You can also adapt a fuller sleeve from another blouse pattern after adjusting the armhole so the pieces are compatible.

Keep the functional buttoned cuffs or, if your hand passes comfortably through them, sew the cuff layers closed and use the buttons as decorative details.

Pattern and sizing

The pattern includes sizes 34–56. Its chart covers an 86–134 cm bust, 64–112 cm waist and 90–138 cm hips. Finished length ranges from 59.5 cm in size 34 to 65 cm in size 56.

The video class includes printable A4 and copy-shop A0 patterns, with a separate information file containing the measurement chart and project requirements.
