What you’ll make
Sew the Delhi Tote Bag, a structured, lined organizer for craft supplies, notebooks, pens, children’s items, or other everyday gear.
The front has layered pockets with flaps and optional narrow divisions. Overlapping pockets cover both sides, and a full-width pocket runs across the back.
Webbing handles provide sturdy carry straps. An optional snap tab between them draws the top together and offers two closure positions as the tote fills.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Back exterior fabric with batting.
- Layer side and back pockets onto the panels.
- Divide front pockets for pens or larger supplies.
- Sew and attach lined pocket flaps.
- Position webbing handles and a closure tab.
- Join the rectangular sides and base.
- Attach the lining and close the turning opening.
Fabric and supplies
The samples combine canvas outside with poplin lining. Batting gives the tote body and supports its many pockets.
A walking foot or roller foot can help feed the padded layers evenly. You’ll also need webbing for the handles and optional snaps for the flaps and top closure.
Make it your own
Divide the front pockets to suit their contents, with narrow pencil channels, a center division, or wider sections. The upper and lower pockets can use different layouts.
The top tab and pocket snaps are optional. Close only the wider pockets, use another closure, or leave the compartments open for faster access.
Finished measurements
The finished tote measures approximately 33 cm high × 25 cm wide × 7 cm deep.
