Camera Bag and Strap

What you’ll make

Create a padded camera bag with space for a camera and lenses, plus a coordinated adjustable camera strap.

The bag has a dimensional zippered pocket, top handle, shoulder strap, flap closure, removable protective walls and base, and a movable divider.

What you’ll learn in these classes

  • Organize the exterior, lining, batting, and stabilizer pieces.
  • Sew a dimensional pocket and install the main zipper.
  • Manage bulky layers in a structured, lined bag.
  • Attach reinforced handles, rings, and adjustable straps.
  • Make removable walls, a base, and a hook-and-loop divider.
  • Quilt and finish a padded camera strap.

Choosing your fabric

The featured bag combines sturdy canvas, cotton lining, batting, interfacing, and firm stabilizer. The removable inserts add structure and cushioning.

For the camera strap, the class recommends durable nylon or polypropylene webbing inside the padded fabric cover.

Make it your own

Move the divider to suit different camera and lens arrangements, or remove the protective inserts and use the project as a general-purpose bag.

You can also make insulated inserts for carrying food containers. Removing the interior walls makes the outer bag easier to wash.

Project measurements

Key bag pieces include a 22 × 22 cm front, a 16 × 65 cm side panel, a 26 × 22 cm back, and a 21 × 15 cm flap.

The two classes cover the structured camera bag and matching padded strap, supported by separate PDFs with cutting dimensions.
