What you’ll make
Sew the hooded Bello as a cozy house robe or an absorbent bathrobe, depending on your fabric. It has a large hood, patch pockets, belt loops, and a tie belt.
With sizes for children and adults, the pattern can be used to make coordinating robes for the family.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Choose a belt construction suited to the fabric.
- Join the shoulders and assemble the hood.
- Attach the hood evenly at the neckline.
- Attach the sleeves and close the side seams.
- Finish the front, hood, lower edge, and sleeves.
- Prepare and position the pockets and belt loops.
Fabric options
The bathrobe sample uses baby waffle. The child’s house robe combines coral fleece on the body with sherpa fleece sleeves.
Other options mentioned in class include fleece, minky, knit, plush fabric, and terry cloth. Thickness and pile affect how easily the fabric turns and feeds.
Make it your own
Adjust the length before hemming, place the belt loops to suit the wearer, and add one or two pockets. Optional snaps at the neckline create a more closed front.
Pair the robe with matching boot-style slippers.
