What you’ll make

Make a bathtub organizer that keeps bath toys together while allowing water to drain and the contents to air-dry. An organizer pattern is included.

The organizer combines a waterproof back with a mesh front and sides. Two upper loops fit over suction cups so it can hang on the bathtub wall.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Bind the mesh opening with tape.
  • Join mesh pieces while matching centers and curves.
  • Choose straight or zigzag stitching for the binding.
  • Support very soft mesh with paper or interfacing.
  • Enclose the remaining edges with binding.
  • Position and secure the suction-cup loops.

Fabric and supplies

Use waterproof fabric for the back and mesh for the front and sides. Grosgrain ribbon, bias tape, or another suitable binding finishes the edges.

Firm mesh holds its shape readily. Fine, flexible mesh also works, but temporary paper underneath can keep the sewing machine from pulling it into the needle plate.

Make it your own

Combine different colors for the mesh and backing. Green and brown fabrics can give the organizer a playful avocado-inspired look.

Enlarge or reduce the pattern to suit the toys you need to store.

Finished size

The included design is approximately 44 cm at its widest point and 9 cm deep.

This easy class demonstrates how firm and lightweight mesh behave during construction, including a practical solution for sewing very soft mesh.
