What you’ll make
Sew a compact crescent bag with a curved silhouette, top zipper and adjustable webbing strap. Wear it crossbody or shorten the strap to carry it over one shoulder.
The bag is fully lined and includes a divided slip pocket for small essentials. Its practical depth preserves the distinctive half-moon shape.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Shape the curved bag body using center marks as guides.
- Install the top zipper between the outer fabric and lining.
- Finish the zipper ends with fabric stops.
- Make an interior pocket with optional divisions.
- Assemble, turn and secure the full lining.
- Attach the webbing, slider and strap hardware.
Fabric and structure
The sample exterior uses tapestry fabric. Canvas, fine-wale corduroy, faux leather and denim are also supported choices for a stable, hard-wearing bag.
Use poplin or another lightweight woven fabric for the lining. Interfacing or batting can add body; the pattern marks a reduced cutting line for thicker support layers to limit bulk.
Make it your own
- Add the pocket to one or both lining panels.
- Change the number and width of the pocket divisions.
- Finish the pocket edge with binding or a hem.
- Adjust the strap length to suit how you carry the bag.
- Add optional topstitching for a flatter finish.
Finished size
The PDF lists an approximate finished size of 34 cm wide × 14 cm high × 8.5 cm deep.
