What you’ll make

The Addison is a close-fitting, one-shoulder swimsuit with an asymmetrical neckline, high-cut legs, and Brazilian-style back coverage. An optional ruffle finishes the neckline.

Wear it for swimming or pair it with shorts. The one-shoulder design can also coordinate with the kids’ bikini.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Orient asymmetrical pieces for your chosen shoulder side.
  • Test needles, presser feet, and stretch stitches on Lycra.
  • Add a crotch lining or extend the lining across the front.
  • Join seams with an overlock, zigzag, or elastic stitch.
  • Quarter and apply swimwear elastic evenly.
  • Turn and topstitch elasticized openings while preserving stretch.

Fabric and supplies

Choose swimwear Lycra and clear swimwear elastic. Test a ballpoint, Stretch, Super Stretch, or similar needle with your fabric and machine before sewing the swimsuit.

A Teflon foot may improve feeding. If needed, the class demonstrates placing painter’s tape beneath a universal presser foot and testing the setup on a scrap.

Make it your own

Add the neckline ruffle or leave it off. Before cutting, choose whether the shoulder strap will sit on the right or left and orient every piece consistently.

Use a full front lining with pale or sheer fabric, or use the smaller crotch lining. The class also shows an extra finish that secures the ruffle seam allowance.

Sizing and fit

The PDF size chart covers sizes 34–56 and includes bust, waist, and hip measurements. This close-fitting style has a high leg and limited back coverage.

The pattern is supplied in A4 and A0 formats.

The class addresses the special cutting, lining, elastic, and stitch choices required by this asymmetrical swimwear design.
